WARWICK STAKES

Runaway Win For Filly (N.Z. Press Assn,—Copyright) SYDNEY, Aug. 25. Cele’s Image, the second favourite at 3/1 and carrying toe light-weight of 7-1, became the first three-year-old filly to win the Warwick Stakes at Warwick Farm yesterday. Cele’s Image was with the leaders all the way and raced away in the straight to win by five lengths. The six-year-old mare, Wenona Girl (16/1) was second, with the five-year-old Prince Regoli (25/1) a long head away in third place. The favourite, Sky High (5/2), finished fifth after being checked when making a run down the straight. The last three-year-old filly to finish in a place in the Warwick Stakes was Wiggle, which later won the Stradbroke Handicap in Brisbane as a three-year-old. The older horses have dominated the Warwick Stakes in recent years. The last three-year-old to win the race was Tulloch in 1957.

Cele’s Image, bought for 525 guineas as a yearling, has proved to be one of the bargains of the year. She now has had seven runs for five wins, a second and a third.
