TOTALISATOR DELAYED
Dead-Heat In First Leg
The dead-heat between Cardigan Bav and Junior Royal in the National Handicap. the first leg of the double at Addington on Saturday. tested the resources of the totalisator staff. There was a delay towards the end of betting on the second leg, the Wildwood Handicap, as investors attempted to redeem successful first-leg tickets. However, this was soon overcome, but the event started more than 15 minutes late.
The delay on Saturday when there was a small crowd gave some idea of the problems which could occur at Addington when night trotting starts in November. The crowd on Saturday was better than a week earlier, but even so it was not large. The weather was fine but cold and the track was again fast.
Totalisator investments oncourse amounted to £89,671 10s. including £7842 on the double, compared with £84,921 5s last year. The total for the two days was £162.377 10s, compared with £163,739.
