HYDATIDS CONTROL
Eradication By New Method (N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, August 25. Hydatids could be eradicated in New Zealand, but not by the methods at present employed, said Mr James A. Baird, senior thoracic surgeon, Wellington Hospital, in an interview. Mr Baird said hydatids eggs purged from dogs lived for 15 to 18 months and could be blown about by the wind. In Hawke's Bay he had seen dosing strips alongside main roads. In Wellington city they were in residential areas. Mr Baird said the Hawke's Bay farming community was one of the principal sources of patients. "Many misleading statements have been made on hydatids disease and often by members of the National Hydatids Council,” he said.
"I would like to, point out that there Is no practising doctor on the National Hydatids Council.”
