Keeler v. ‘Telegraph? (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. August 23. Solicitors for Miss Christine Keeler announced last night that they were suinr the “Daily Telegraph” for libel. The lawyers, in a statement. saud the suit was in respect of an article in the London newspaper yesterday. The ‘’Daily Telegraph.” in a front-page story, yesterday, said Sir Theobald Mathew, the Director of Public Prosecutions. had called in lawyers to advise him on police reports containing allegations of perjury and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in the trial of Aloysius ("Lucky”) Gordon Gordon, a Jamaican entertainer and former lover of Miss Keeler, was freed from prison three weeks ago after the Appeal Court quashed a three-year sentence imposed on him for assaulting Miss Keeler. The evidence on which the Appeal Court acted in freeing Gordon was not disclosed at the nineminute hearing.

The "Daily Telegraph” story said the evidence on which the appeal was granted was a “number of statemen's about the night of April 17-18 when Gordon was alleged to have attacked Miss Keeler" The story gave a report on what was alleged to have been contained in the statements.
