The visitors scored two goals, four tries, and a field goal, to a try and a field goal The heavier Northland pack wore down the Bay forwards iu the second half ever though the home pack took the line-outs. 26-24. and the scrums. 21-18. the visiting backs’ superior handling and switching of attacks from one wing to the other gave the firwards a decisive edge Poor handling by the Bay inside backs also contributed to Northland's success. The hooker, D O’Shea, was easily Northland’s best forward. with M Hull sharing in the light work and L Haddon showing up in the loose The best of the Bay forwards were G Raggett. D Fee and A Rowlands. H. Rutene was the brightest of the For Northland. D. O'Shea K. Going. L Townsend, J Toki (2), and R Yates scored tries E. 'Thompson converted one try and R Yates the other K.
