(N Z P A -Reuter—Copyright) TOKYO. August 19 Police said today the death toll from torrential rains which fell over Japan’s southern-most island of Kyushu from August 14 to 18 had risen to 14. Seventeen persons were ■till missing and 28 others were injured Police said 179 houses had been destroyed or washed away and more than 9700 >thers had been flooded There were 220 landslides and 49 bridges washed away Police said 11.635 personhad become homeless or otherwise affected by the rains
