JUNIOR CUP FINAL
Canterbury Loses, 6-2 (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. August 17. The New Zealand soccer officials attending Blandford Park on Saturday must have been delighted by the display of team football in the final of the Junior National Cup for players under 18. Auckland beat Canterbury, 6-2 Canterbury’s goals, in particular. were brilliant efforts : First D. Allen and then R. Lille showed judgment beyond their years in choosing to pass to a perfectly-placed team-mate uhen they might have shot and missed. Auckland, however, was the dominant team, running to a somewhat fortuitous lead of 3-0 after 30 minutes, then controlling the second half after Canterbury had fought back to 3-2 Several of the Canterbury players displeased the Auckland referee. Mr P Codd. by openly questioning his decisions, and the full-back. M Thompson, had his name taken. For Auckland, goals were scored by L. Thompson (2. including a penalty I. G. Reilly. B Hunter. J Legg and a defender. F Madrussen. and R. McLean replied for Canterbury.
