Corduroy in the Sea view Hurdles and Hiaway in the Vauxhall Handicap was an elusive on-course double at Wingatui on Saturday The combination paid £146 6s for £l. It was shared by only 29 5s ticket-holders Corduroy led all the way in the Seaview Hurdles. He gave a mixed display of jumping, but drew away over the last three furlongs and coasted home by six lengths The favourite. Bronze Duke, tailed off early and was giving the leader eight lengths s'art into the back straight He moved up to second place into the straight, but had no chance with the winner in the run home. Hiaway led all the way to win the Vauxhall Handicap Punning to the half-mile he was joined by Sunny Gold ahead of Peter James, which ran up smartly after being last away. Hiaway was clear into the straight and ran on to win by a length from Sunny Gold, with three-quarters of a length to Mimette. three lengths and a half to Beach Gold, and three lengths to Nimbus Cloud ahead of Kings Tax, Peter James Sen, Persian Light and Salatan, last. Lostalon Wins Lostalon. a winner at the Grand National meeting outclassed his opponents in the Taieri Handicap. After racing in a gap behind Waaf. Domain. Dilane and Zetland he came through on the inside turning for home and drew away to win by five lengths Domain, whch disputed the pace to the turn, was two and a half lengths clear of Zetland Leigh with a heed to Coral Morn, which came home faster after being second last near the turn There were four lengths then to Cluny Bill ahead of Dilane. Fine Chase, Wynberg Tablecloth, Waaf, and Coat Of Arms.
