He would do research Into the relationship between educational systems in different countries at particular stages of development. In particular he would study what happened when a country with one educational system tried to help another country with lower educational standards. He was anxious to find out how far ttie ordinary teaching methods of Britain, New Zealand, and the United States were applicable in under - developed countries where the teachers were only half as well educated as their counterparts elsewhere. It was possible that considerable damage could be done by trying to change established educational systems for those in use in the developing countries, he said Mr Beeby is spending a fortnight in New Zealand tc discuss U.N E.S.C.O.’s 1965-66 proginamme and budget with lie Government.
