Rare Fish On Tunny Line

[From the ".south African Digest’’]' A “rare and remarkable” "■fish and the first to be caught in South African waters, is being studied by marine biologists at the South African Museum in Cape Town. The fish is a 2001 b louvar. It was hooked on a tunny line from a fishing boat about 120 miles north-west of Dassen Island, and was brought to the Museum by the boat’s skipper, Mr A. B. Diederichs. Dr. Frank Talbot, marine biologist at the museum said it was the first recorded catch of this type of fish. It is an open-ocean fish found mainly in tropical and sub-tropical waters, although he would expect some to be found in these waters. The eouvar is a silvery fish with a blunt head red fins and soft flesh. It is about 6ft long.
