N.Z. Tourists Win Two (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE. August 16 The New Zealand Universities hockey team had two good wine at the Australian Universities’ hockey carnival at Brisbane today. The New Zealanders beat Monash University, Victoria, 4-0, and the University of New South Wales, 4-1. T. Ellison gave New Zealand a first-half lead against Monash and after the Interval further goals were added by K Thomson (2) and R Best. In the afternoon match the tourists took command in the second spell. The score at halftime was 1-1. with goals from R. Bailey for New Zealand and Latham for the Australians After the break further goals were added by M. Mikkelaon Thomson and R. Galbraith. The New Zealanders played high-class hockey. Their stickwork showed great promise and they are expected to be a formidable combination when they . meet the combined Australian Universities next week.
