FIRE BRIGADE DISPUTE
Christchurch Men Suspend Action The Christchurch Metropolitan Fire Board was informed last evening that the Christchurch Fire Brigadesmen's Union would not carry out its decision to stop all routine work (other than enswering fire calls* next Wednesday A telegram to the board's chairman (Mr W. R. Campbell* sent at 630 p.m from the union secretary (Mr G G Walker* said that action in ceasing routine duties would be suspended until the result of the compulsory conference between die parties m the dispute, called by the Minister of Labour (Mr Shand* for next week, was known. The Christchurch union had decided to stop all rout.ne work from Wednesday in support of the Wellington Fire Brigadesmen's Union in its dispute with the Welling-
ton Fire Board about the dismissal of two men and alleged breaches of the award.
