Colt "Destined For Stardom”
(N Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE. Aug. 15. A showy chestnut with four white feet left no doubt he was destined for turf stardom w’hen he raced at Werribee (near Melbourne* yesterday, according to the Melbourne “Sun News-Pic-torial” racing writer, Peter Lovitt.
Levitt was waiting about Shifnal. which won the £lOOO Beamish Stakes, over five furlongs, ridden by a 19-year-old apprentice, Brian Gaw.
Shifnal started at 5 2 favourite and led all the way to win by a little more than a length from Proteus <9 1) and Magic Belle (11/2).
Shifnal is a full brother of the former champions. Todman and Noholme. Yesterday’s start was his second in a race, and his first in open company.
His only other start was when he won a two-year-old race at Werribee on July 24
