Manhunt In S. Africa (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) JOHANNESBURG, August 13. South Africa’s four escaped political prisoners were still free tonight in spite of massive nation-wide newspaper and radio publicity. The biggest manhunt in the republic’s history was stepped-up today after the court appearance of an 18-year-old constable charged with aiding the escapees. Security police disclosed a number of police officers were being closely interrogated aibout the escape. South Afica’s deputy-Police Commissioner. Major-General R J. Van Den Bergh, said ir. Pretoria today that a court appearance of a second policeman was ‘possible.’’
