Lown ) qualified as a jumper at Wingatui this morning, and wiU have his first race in his new role in the Sea view Hurdles at the Otago Hunt meeting. He was accompanied oy his stable-mate. Golden Raider fM. Landrebe), over a round of four flights/ Both horses came through their task in satisfactory manner.
Mon Roi is a fit runner, having won at his last start, the Kenneis Intermediate Handicap. at. the South Canterbury Hunt Club’s meeting. Gold Raider is a seven-year-old brother to Matlock. He was the top-priced yearling al the 1958 Trentham yearindg sales, where he was purchased by Mt E Montgomery, nf Rotorua, for 3000gns.
His successes included two six-furlong sprints at Ellerslie —the Epsom and EJectric Handicaps—and the EUerslie One Thousand, one mile, on the same course.
He was purchased by Mr A J Pynes, of Southland, who races Summer Star, and U now trained by A E. Didham.
