Mr C. E. Gardiner To Retire

Mr C. E. Gardiner, the medical statistician, will retire on August 31 after 42 years with the Public Service. His successor will be his present first assistant, Mr R. J. Rose. Mr Gardiner was the Health Department’s first statistician, being appointed 15 years ago from the Department of Statistics where he had been working on medical data The Health Department Medical Statistics Branch, which he organised, now has a staff of 30. including three statisticians Mr Gardiner is serving his third five-year term as a member of the World Health Organisation’s expert committee on medical statistics. He will retain his membership until at least the end of his present term.
