Procella’s Sound Run At Addington

Although his time was not particularly fast. Procella showed that he will have to be reckoned with in the August Handicap tomorrow when he worked at Addington yesterday. Once again most of the horses were restricted to easy tasks, sprinting home from inside the last half-mile. The track was in good order.

Most interest centred on the appearance of Cardigan Bay and Chief Hall. Both were restricted to the lightest of work. They look in great heart for the first day of the meeting.

Procella went away about 18 yards behind Meadow Scott, Vanderford and Lord Mina from the 12-furlong post He had made up none of his leeway at the two furlongs. but finished only a head behind Lord Mina at the finish, with a length to Vanderford and Meadow Soott. who were being eased on the line The leaders took 3min 20 4-ssec for the full distance, the last half-mile in Imin 3«ec. and the final quarter in 30 l-ssec.

Procella impressed by the determined manner in which he caught the leaders in the trial and he was running on boldly at the lane. If he begins smoothly, he should be hard to beat in the August Handicap Vanderford which was driven by M Holmes, had somethin? in reserve at the finish He ’oo. looks well forward and he should make a bold showing in the Temple’on Handicap. Cardigan Bay loafed over the first 12 furlongs of two miles in smin 1 3-ssec. the last half-mile in Imin 3 4-ssec, and the final quarter in 31 l-ssec He finished under a strong hold and was keen to increase the pace at the post He looks ready to make a winning run in the Li»Mning Handicao Flying B’ue and Safe Return took 3min 23sec for 12 furlongs the las’ half-mile n Imin 2 S-o'ec. and the final quarter in 29 3-ssec. 29 3-ssec. Gay Gordon was unlucky to be balloted out of the Four-year-old Stakes but he might get a start on the second day of the meeting Morano Boy was eliminated from the first day of the meeting. He looks well and should show sharp improvement.

Prinsuva. after giving Bay Prince and Safety Catch a start of 18 yards, led them over the last 10 of 12 furlongs in 3min 26sec. the last half-mile in Imin 6 l-ssec. and the final quarter in 3’sec Prinsuva will have his first start since March. 1962. in the Ribbonwood Handicap
