REPORT OF MEETING

Objection To Implication

The University Drama Society objected to any implication that, at a meeting addressed by the national chairman of the Australian League of Rights (Mr E. Butler) on Thursday evening, a disturbance was planned and organised by the drama society, said the chairman (Mr D. R. Hindin) yesterday, commenting on a report published in yesterday’s issue of “The Press.”

“Although it did have a valid prior claim to the meeting room, for one of its members to interrupt proceedings was not justified, but most certainly not premeditated either. Not reported w-as the fact that the member (incorrectly identified as Mr A. Agar) desisted from pressing his claim and apologised for the disturbance before being told to ‘shut up and behave himself.’

“Likewise the episode with the levelled pistol was an unrehearsed practical joke which, although appreciated by the meeting, was lost on its chairman. The drama society apologised to both chairman and speaker after the meeting.” said Mr Hindin.
