TOURISM IN ALL N.Z.

Support For Minister (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Aug. 4. “I fully support the remarks made by the Minister in charge of Tourist and Health Resorts (Mr Eyre) to a deputation from the South Island Publicity Association on Friday opposing the statutory recognition of the Travel and Holidays Association in the Tourist Bill,” said the Travel Association’s president (Mr J. L. Chapmen) in Wellington yesterday. “The South Island Publicity Association is a regional body which has as one of its objectives tourist promotion for the region and as such is a welcome member of the national association,” said Mr Chapman.

“I wish tb reiterate our repeated offer initiated in Christchurch a year ago that we would welcome the S.I.P.A. nominating to our board of directors a representative who would then qualify with all other member organisations and individuals for nomination and democratic election to the association’s executive. “The national association has 19 branches throughout New Zealand from Southland to Northland, and has no intention of reviving the outdated South Island v. North Island conflict. It is promoting New Zealand as a whole in the world’s tourist markets, which is the only method with any hope of success in the highly-: competitive international tourist trade,” he said.
