TRIBUTES TO AUNT DAISY
East C.W.L Meeting Tributes were paid to the late Mrs Daisy Basham ("Aunt Daisy”) at the July meeting of the executive committee of the Canterbury East Federation of Country Women s Institutes. Mrs A. M Riches presided. A certificate from She Christchurch City Council had been received by the federation, commemorating their floral set piece in the Botanic Gardens, on the occasion of the Royal visit, Mrs E. B. Thompson (secretary) reported. A detailed account of the Dominion Council meeting at Blenheim was given by Mrs D. Mcßae, the federation councillor. Two Canterbury Eart members. Mesdames A. J. Stone (Hornby) and A, D. Johnstone (Centre), had been awarded merit certificates.
It wan decided to order Christmas cards from U.N.I.C.E.F, and also Associated Country Women of the World seals. Invitations to birthday celebrations at Okams Bay and Little River were 4 accepted. Members were reminded of the federation day ok Lincoln in October.
