Godfrey Not Stopping
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 24. W. J. Godfrey is eager to return to the tough overseas 'rofessional golf circuit next year. He announced this yesterday when he returned from his first o?son of competitive overseas golf. “I’m keen to get in there aga n.” the 21-year-old Aucklander said when he arrived at Whenuapai. "I’ve got to take off wo shots a round to get into the money and I think I can do it."
He discounted reports from overseas suggesting he wanted to give up professionalism. “I had to come back,” he said. "It was the end of the circuit in Europe and I want to Slay In the seven tournaments ere this summer.”
G.:ifrey said he would work hard at improving his driving. He plans to put an extra 10 yard- on his drive as soon as his clubs arrive from England
"That extra 10 yards is vital fr a professional." he said. Godfrey said he had thought he was playing poorly in England until he worked out his round average. It was 73.5. “Most of the courses were par 75” he said, “so I found I wasn’t playing that badly.”
