KIWI PLAYER SUSPENDED
I Ackland Out Of N.I. Side (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 24. R. C Ackland, the Kiwi forward, was suspended from playing in the North Island team on Saturday on the casting vote of the chairman of the Auckland Rugby League board of control (Mr C. L. K. Gillam) tonight. In addition, Ackland was suspended from two playing Saturdays of club football for alleged swearing at the referee. Mr A. Mitchell, during the Eastern-Midlands match last Saturday. Aokland was the only one of three senior players ordered off last Saturday to be suspended. K. R. McCracken, who was ordered off in the same game for punching in a tackle, was warned. No action was taken against B. S. Lee, who was ordered off by the referee, Mr W. Seagar, in the CentralNorthern match at Cornwall Park for “indiscriminate kicking.” Lee had been warned earlier for “head-high tackling” and "over-vigorous tackling,” according to Mr Seager’s report. All three cases were heard in open meeting.
D Mann, of Glenora, will replace Ackland in the North Island team, Mr D. H. White, the chairman of the selection panel, said tonight. Mann has not as yet played for Auckland, but attended the refresher course school at Rotorua early in the season.
