Teachers’ College Win Match With Lincoln
Teachers’ College defeated Lincoln College by nine points to seven in the annual sports tournament between the two colleges yesterday. Soccer. Lincoln defeated Teachers’ College 3-1. In spite of strong gusty winds both sides played open football. If the ball had been kept on the ground more definite results would have been obtained Teachers’ College held on until a minute from the end when Lincoln added its third goal Rifle Shooting. Teachers' College won by 1505 84 points to 1352.54. The best score for Teachers’ College was 98.5 (E Edward) and the best for Lincoln was 98.3 (E. Chen). Each competitor shot two cards each, and there were eight members in each team, including three women. Table Tennis.—Watson and Bowls (Lincoln) defeated Casson and Junavich, 21-15, 10-21. 26-24 in the final of the doubles section, and Teachers’ College won the singles.
Harriers.—By point system Teachers' College defeated Lincoln by four points The winner, K Connell (Training College) easily outran K. Newby
(Teachers' College). Third was J. Wells (Lincoln). The first two to complete the run were both Canterbury Junior harrier representatives for the New Zealand cross-country championships. Men’s Indoor Basketball.— Lincoln College defeated Teachers' College by 40 points to 20, and was generally superior in ail quarters of the game. Lincoln’s driving and combination caught Teachers' College oft balance in the early stages, and although the game finished with a much improved Training College side, it could not bridge the gap. although scoring 10 points in the last five minutes
For Lincoln, Young and Parsons played well, both being fast, accurate and agile. Woodholmes and Simpson also played strongly, the former sinking many valuable jump shots Teachers' College fought back well and Tremewan played a valuable game for his team but generally speaking the score was a fair indication of the game.
Golf.—Teachers' College defeated Lirlcol»-by winning three games drawing one and losing one.
