Hamner Facilities Criticised The poet-treatment plant at Hanmer Springs was a disgrace to the Forest Service, Mr A. C. R. RoMnatxn (Amuri) said at a meeting yesterday of the executive committee of North Canterbury Federated Farmers. The ptent was outdated. and could be operated only in good weather beteuee it wee in the open, he said. The dtecuation arose from « renm orougw otaore vie executive from the meat and wool section. Several yean ago the Forest Service applied to have a new plant installed at Hanmer Springs, but the Government refused, Mr Robinson said. The Government had probably refused because private concerns in Christchurch said they could cope with the demand. the Chatham Islands repreeentative (Mr S. J. S Barker) said.
It was quite apparent the farmers' demands for the Hanmer Springs posts exceeded the supply, said Mr W. N. Dunlop. ‘"Hie bottleneck is in the treating.'' The executive decided to write to the Minister of Forests (Mr Gerard), telling him that supplies of posts were a year behind orders.
