EXTREME MOVES
Fears For Malaysia (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) KUALA LUMPUR. July 24. The British, Malayan and Singapore Governments are worried about possible ’‘last-minute moves by extremists" in Singapore before the inaugurations of the Federation of Malaysia on August 31.
This was annour ;ed in a communique from the ‘‘lnternal Security Council,” the three-n-ations body that watches over security in Singapore. Singapore will join Malaya. Sarawak, and British North Borneo in the federation. The move has been violently opposed by left-wing opposition groups in Singapore, and also by the neighbouring Republic of Indonesia.
A cable message from Singapore says Malaysia need not feair any naval attack. "You in this region have a navy and naval backing strong enough to beat off any naval attack.” Rear-Admiral A. K. Chatterji, officer commanding the Indian Fleet, said today. The Indian Fleet left Singapore today after a four-days goodwill visit. It sailed for Penang, Northern Malaya, for a similar visit.
