FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A depression is moving eastwards across the North Island and a south-westerly airstream is spreading over the country. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate south-westerlies, freshening at times; partly cloudy and cold, with some showers chiefly about Banks Peninsula and North Canterbury. Outlook: partly cloudy. Marlborough and Nelson.—Moderate to fresh southerlies, strong near Cook Strait; colder, with showers, chiefly about the ranges and eastern coast. Outlook: showers clearing. Buller and Westland.—Moderate southerlies; isolated showers in Buller, otherwise fine, but cold. Outlook: partly cloudy. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
