NOXIOUS WEEDS CONTROL
New Committee To Be Formed A co-ordinating committee is to be sert up by toe Ellesmere, Springs and Banks Peninsula noxious weeds groups to bring down a policy for toe control and eradication of nassella tussock. The phvsioai control of toe tussock will remain the responsibility of toe groups concerned. A meeting of toe groups yesterday decided to ask the Ashburton County Council to reconsider its started view that the new commiiittep was unnecessary, and to consider associating iteeli’ with toe scheme.
The chairman of yesterday's meeting (Mr M. E. Jenkins) said Ashburton's reply was very discouraging. ‘‘cspeciaHy as I think they are the chief offenders.”
The first meeting of the t.cw committee will be held on October 30 The chairman of toe Ashburton County Council (Mr N E Murdoch) said last evening it would be unfair to the council for him to comment until full details of toe meeting were received.
