Book On High Country
“A River Rules My Life," the recently published book by Mrs Mona Anderson, wife of a Rakaia high country runholder, has become a bestseller by New Zealand standards.
Published by A H. and A. W. Reed, Ltd., the book sold out the first 5000-copy printing within the first three days. Mrs Anderson lives on the 100,000-acre Mount Algidus station in the Rakaia gorge, 17 miles inland from the Lake Coleridge Post Office.
Born at New Brighton, she was brought up in Greymouth, but has lived at Mount Algidus for the last 23 years. “A River Rules My Life” is Mrs Anderson's first book after five years of writing radio scripts for her programme for country women. There will also be an English edition of the book. Mrs Anderson now hopes to write a history of Mount Algidus.
