Obituary MR A. S. KIRKLAND
"The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, July 22. A former New* Zealand champion piper, Mr Alexander Stevenson Kirkland, has died in New Plymouth, aged 64. He was born and educated in Glasgow. In 1926 Mr Kirkland came to New Zealand and after several months in Christchurch settled in New Plymouth. He was followed to New Zealand by Miss Helen Dunlop, also of Glasgow, and married the same year. Mr Kirkland is survived by his wife and three sons.
