Milburn Cement Meeting Delayed

(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 22. To ensure that all necessary information is available, and that the whole future of the company can be discussed, the directors of Milburn Lime and Cement Company, Ltd., have cancelled the second adjourned extraordinary general meeting of shareholders. They will call a meeting as soon as possible.

In a circular to shareholders, the chairman of directors, Mr R. D. Stewart, said the meeting wild now n-*t be held on August 14—the date previously determined, at the adjourned meeting on March 6.

“It is , appreciated that shareholders are anxious to receive information as soon as possible on the negotiations that have taken place between your directors and representatives of the New Zealand Cement Company. Ltd., and representatives of the Rugby Portland Cement Company, Ltd.

''Unfortunately, a full report on the proposals for the future or our company cannot yet be issued,” Mr Stewart said.

“Immediately this is possible such a report will be sent to shareholders and an extraordinary meeting will be called to discuss all aspects. We do not anticipate a long delay, but it may be a few weeks yet before the necessary notices can be sent to you. New Meeting

“Your directors consider that a new meeting with new proxies should be called to discuss the whole future of the company rather than to hold an adjourned meeting which could only discuss the unfinished business of the previous meeting. “It is thus essential to cancel the adjourned meeting if shareholders are not to be unnecessarily called together at a meeting which would be restricted in the actions it could take.

“Accordingly, to enable this particular meeting to be cancelled, your directors are formally withdrawing the resolutions of which notice was previously given. “We ask you to be patient just a little longer until a fuill report can be distributed to you,” Mr Stewart said.
