Rug by League Mr D.C. Wilson To Referee

The chairman of the Canterbury Rugby League Board of Control, Mr D. C. Willson, will referee a senior match for the first time this season on Saturday. It will be the match between Papanui and Hornby on the No. 2 ground at the Show Grounds This was decided at last evening's meeting of the board. Earlier in the season the board had decided that Mir Wilson could only referee in a time of “emergency," because ot his position. Mr P. Yaxley said that at least five referees were unavailable on Saturday. Three will be refereeing schoolboy representative games on the West Coast and the others are indisposed. Mr Yaxley said this in reply to a question by Mr L. Huston. Tear Referees

The New Zealand Rugby League Council has appointed Mr Yaxley as referee tor the match between South Africa and Wellington, at Wellington, on August 7. The match between South Africa and South Island, at Christchurch, on August 3, will be under the control of Mr E. Pilcher, of Wellington. Permission Granted

The Christchurch club’s senior team was granted permission to play an Otago club, Athletic, on the morning of August 3. There is no senior football on that day because of the South African fixture.
