‘Russia Mustering Allies In Dispute '

(H Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW, July 22. A report on the apparently fruitless Chinese-Soviet talks is expected to be given to East European Communist Block leaders at a summit meeting of Comecon in Moscow this week.

“Pravda,” the Soviet Communist Party newspaper, reported yesterday that the meeting will open on Wednesday. Comecon (Council for Mutual Economic Aid) is the top economic co-ordinating body for the East European States.

In London, the “Daily Telegraph" said the East European leaders were being summoned to Moscow (or what was ostensibly a regular Comecon meeting.

But the calling of the meeting so soon after the Chinese - Soviet ideological talks had been abandoned was a clear sign the Russ.ans were now mustering t) eir allies against the Chinese attacks. The Chinese would doubtless try to do the same among the Asian parties which support them Communiques Issued

China and Russia have agreed to continue their ideological talks, at a time and place to be fixed, it wa.announced last night m identical communiques published in both Peking and Moscow After listing the delegations at the talks the communiques said: “In course of the talks, both sides expounded their own views and stand on a series of important questions of principle concerning contemporary world developments, the international Communist movement and ChineseSoviet relations

“Upon the proposal of the delegation of Hie Communist Party of China, both sides reached the agreement to,

have a recess in the work of the delegations and to continue the talks some time Later.

“The place and time for the continuation of the talks will be agreed upon by the centra! committee of the C.P.C and the central committee of the C.P.S.U. after further consultation." Western observers said the communiques clearly showed the talks had got nowhere. Both sides were now apparently hoping time would cool the dispute. The communique did not mention China's suggestion for a world Communist summit to discuss MoscowPeking differences, nor did it give any clue whether mutual polemics will cease In Moscow Tass published the Chinese communique without comment It was broadcast by Moscow Radio as the third'item m its main home service news bulletin last night China's leaders. Mr Mao Tse-tung and Chou En-lai. were at Peking airport yesterday to greet the returning six negotiators. A crowd of 5000 shouted slogans, including “Oppose capitulation" and “Oppose revisionism.” Another arrival who got a warm official reception was the New China News Agency correspondent in Prague, Mr Lu Hao-ching. His recall was demanded by the Czech Government. Two other Chinese reporters have been refused readmission to Czechoslovakia China has protested strongly The big, noisy crowd that welcomed home the Moscow talks delegation banged drums and cymbals and waved banners, British United Press reported.
