AN OLD TREE TO COME DOWN.—A chestnut tree in the grounds of the Supreme Court photographed yesterday after branches had been lopped. The tree, which is thought to be about 190 years old, is to be removed as it was condemned as unsafe after the breaking of a branch early this year. The fate of two other trees is governed by the plan to erect a new four-storey court building.
