LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

New Branch At Bishopdale

A message of greetings was received from the Dominion executive of the League of Mothers when the Bishopdale branch held its inaugural meeting recently. Mrs W H. Harvey, the provincial president, presided and welcomed the wife of the chairman of the Waimairi County Council <Mrs J. I. Colligan). the Dominion secretary (Mrs H. C. L. Pruden), the Dominion treasurer (Mrs G. M Martin), representatives of other city branches and several intending members Mrs Harvey outlined the history of the league since its inception and explained its aims and objects Provincial officers explained the functions of a branch and the spirit of friendship among members

Appreciation was expressed to ffie provincial organiser • Mrs J H. Strachan) and members of the Bryndwr and St Albans branches for their work in organising the branch’s formation

Items were given by Mesdames N. G. Pickering (St Albans). R. M Tolputt (Bryndwr), R Cherry and J. Webster (Bishopdalei.

Officers elected were: act-ing-president. Mrs B. C. Roscoe; secretary. Mrs G. L. Stout; treasurer. Mrs R. Van Vliet; magazine secretary Mrs C. W Pugh; committee Mesdames N. J Mitchell. C Henderson. R Coey, S. W Venis, C. H. Wiltshire. L H Gyde and L. Holt.
