Oil-Burning Gas Plant

WELLINGTON, July 19. An import licence issued to the Dunedin City Council tor the importation of ail-burn-ing gas-making equipment had been issued in error, said the Minister of Customs (Mr Shellton) in Parliament today. He said the equipment would only be used at peak times and , when there were shortages of coal tor gasmaking purposes. Mr Shelton bad been asked about the issue of the licence by Mr W. E. Rowling (Opposition. Buller), who described the action as contrary to assurances given the mining industry by the Minister of Mines and Minnster of Industries and Commerce.
