Clubs Oppose Decision
. Ths possibility of ssnior hockey matches not being played next Saturday when Canter, bury plays Australia at Christchurch was opposed by two clubs In letters read to the management committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association last evening. The secretary of the Sydenham cltib (Mr R. A. Fergus) said that "my committee wish to object most strongly if this is so. and can see no reason
for 77 senior players to suffer a loss of a Saturday's hockey due to the playing of thia match.” Mr G. F. Gibson, the secretary of the Harewood club said that his club felt that "this policy should . . . not be changed without first asking aU clubs concerned."
Mr A. McCrorie moved that a letter be sent to the clubs telling them that the decision had been made after bonsideraUon of al! aspects.
Resignation The resignation of a committee member Mr L. G. Ives, was accepted with regret. It was decided to ask Mr N. Palmer (High School Old Boys), who was defeated in a ballot at the annual general meeting of the association if he would be available to serve on the committee The regrading of a university club plsyer. G. Rothwell, from the senior grade to senior reserve wss approved.
