Hockey AUSTRALIA TRIUMPHS
4-0 Defeat Of Wellington (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 9. In cold, wet and windy conditions at the Basin Reserve tonight, the touring Australian hockey team beat Wellington, 4-0. Th# visitors impressed with their clever dribbling and crisp hitting. With well-placed through passes and scoops, the Australian forwards kept Wellington on defence for long periods. Australia had the wind in the first half and at the interval led 2-0 from goals by Smart and Evans. Wellington made many sallies in the second spell, with ground conditions deteriorating, but their opponent* were too sound on defence.
Piper scored for Australia and near the end Evans got his second goal.
