An 18-year-old grammar schoolboy said today he had become the chief suspect m police inquiries into letters threatening an acid attack on the Queen Mother. Threads were sent to Darlington s Town Clerk and to a Darlington newspaper before the Queen Mother visited the boys two weeks ago. Police provided a heavy guard but there was no unusual incident during the visit

The boy. who has been questioned, told a reporter: •The police say they suspect me most of all Two inspectors told me they have enough evidence to put me in Court, but I know I am innocent."
