WENT TO SAY GOODBYE

Later Awoke At Sea (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE, July 7. A 29-year-old New Zealander aboard the tourist liner, Southern Cross, was not allowed to land in Brisbane today. Police were told by the ship's authorities that the man, Gordon Waller, of Wellington, was a stowaway Waller denied this. He said he had gone aboard the ship in Wellington to bid farewell to a friend, had too much to drink, and fell asleep. When he awoke the ship had been under way for several hours.

The ship sailed tonight for Sydney and will continue on to Fremantle, South Africa and England. A ship's officer said it was probable that Waller’s fate would be decided in Sydney.
