Indoor Basketball S.I. WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT
Canterbury Wins B. Grade Title
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH. July 7. The Canterbury team won the South Island women’s indoor basketball B grade championship, when it beat Mld-Canter-bury in the final at the Army Drill Hall. Greymouth, on Saturday night. This match proved a thriller for the large crowd of spectators who were kept at a high pitch of excitement by the closeness of the scoring throughout. Canterbury's winning margin was by 44 goals to 41. The teams which contested the final were as follows:
Canterbury.—S Pearcev (captain). P. Ruwhiu, G. Farrant, M. Coulson, S. Moncur, S Pitama, J. Karaitiana, E Karaka, V. Young.
Mid-Canterbury. H. Wellman (captain), A. Laing, J Butterick, H. Hanham. M Clarke. M. McKay. M. Gray. H Aitken.
The following were the results:— Mid-Canterbury 49. West Coast 25; South Canterbury 67. Harihari 13; Nelson 53. Buller 38; Otago 44. Motueka 39: MidCanterbury 54.
