Two Seamen Injured

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 6. Two seamen were injured in the 350-ton explosives ship Wongala, a railing was bent, a gangway smashed and sails damaged during a three-day battering from huge seas and gale-force winds in the Tasman Sea. The Wongala reached the explosives depot at Kawakawa Bay this morning nearly four days late. One of the seamen was thrown against a bulkhead and received bruised ribs. The other sprained his ankle. “They were the worst seas I have ever seen in the Tasman,” Captain Leo Meyer said today.

The seas rose to over 40ft, with gales of up to 70 knots, and visibility was reduced to less than 200 yards.
