Proposal Not Favoured ( Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 2. Consideration could not be given at the present to the inclusion of a proposal for a northern outlet for Karamea. the Minister of Works (Mr Gooeman) told Mr W. E Rowling (Opposition. Buller) in Parliament this afternoon Mr Rowling bad aeked Mr Guesman to indicate the current proposals relating to a northern outlet for the district. and bo give an estimated date ot commencement “Enough is known of the nature of the country north of Karamea to establish that the construction of an outlet in this direction, involving approximately 35 miles of new reading and two major bridges, would be a difficult and very costly project through land of little productive value.” Mr Goosman said. “The Government is already heavily committed on new reading work in the Haas! area and elsewhere for some time to come, and consideration cannot be given at present to the inclusion of this proposal in a programme of work.”
