Riccarton Body Meets
Forty members attended the June meeting of the Riccarton Horticultural Society held in the Riccarton Town Hall. Mrs R. E. J. Goulden presided and Mr L. C. Humdell gave a talk on vegetable growing. Winners of the monthly competitions were:— Decorative.—Novice: Mrs M. Hardman 1, Mrs B. Cimeen 2, Mrs R. Hayton 3. Amateur: Mrs R. Stevenson 1 Mrs R Harkness 2. Open: Mrs J. Thompson 1. Mrs R. Mutimer 2. Mrs B. Cain and Mrs R. GOUI- - (equal) 3. Best bloom: J. Cleave 1 Mrs R. Hay ton 2. Mrs J. Powell 3. Best pot plant: Mrs J. Thompson 1, Mrs R Hayton 2, Mrs J. Powell 3. Best shrub; Mrs J. Powell i Mrs B. Cain 2. Mrs R. Mutimer 3. Three parsnips: Miss F. McLaughlin 1, M. Staunton 2, Mrs S. Clements 3. Winter cabbage: Mrs W Ellen 1. Winter pears: M Staunton 1.
