LAND BOUGHT FOR CHURCH

McCormacks Bay Purchase

The Roman Catholic parish at Sumner has bought 10 acres of land at McCormacks

Bay on which in a few years it intends to build a church and school. The parish priest (the Rev. Father J. Curnow) said there was already a number of persons at McCormacks Bay away from any nearby church. Growth was expected there, as new roads were going in and housing subdivisions were to be developed. Father Curnow said he expected that as the bay developed it would grow into quite a sizeable community within a few years. The land for the intended church and school was at the Sumner end of the bay. Building would not take place for at least five years.
