Primary Schools

Sir,—“Let There Be Light" has little ground for compliant. In our local country school there is no power, no hot water, or lighting of any sort. I wholeheartedly agree that a survey of lighting in schools could well be undertaken, as in this school in winter, lighting conditions are often so bad that children have difficulty reading work from the blackboard and eye strain is a logical outcome. The only way for the teacher to prepare work in the evenings is to use candles. Why are small country schools neglected at the expense ot new city schools" —Yours, etc, GOOD FOR THE GANDER June H. 1963
