Obituary MR A. C. HAYNES

(N.Z. Preet Association) DUNEDIN, June 13

Mr A. C. Haynes, a former president of the Otago Rugby Union, died in Dunedin this morning. He was 76 Joining the Dunedin club before the First World War Mr Haynes played Rugby up to representative level, winning Otago honours in 1915 For 14 years he was president of the Dunedin club and for the last 30 years he was its patron. He was elected to the Otago union's management committee 36 years ago and served on various committees before being elected president in 1938 He retired from Rugby administration in 1967.

Cyclone Death Toll.—A Pakistani Government spokesman said today the official estimate of the death toll in the cyclone which struck the Bay of Bengal area of East Pakistan on May 28 was between 10,000 and 11,000. British United Press reported.—Karachi, June 12.
