Cherry Farm Chaplain
A former curate of St Mary’s Anglican Church Merivale, the Rev. R. S Eaton, has been appointed chaplain of the Seacliff group of psyshiatric hospitals by the Bishop of Dunedin (the Rt. Rev. A. H. Johnston).
Mr Eaton has recently returned from the United States where he has spent a year working at the Bellevue Hospital, New York He has spent nearly three years in England working .in London churches, after leaving the Merivale parish in 1955.
There will be 1300 patients under Mr Eaton’s spiritual care at Cherry Farm, and at the new hospital they are building there. Money has been raised to build a chapel and work will begin on it soon.
