Table Tennis Selwyn Sides Draw 13 Games Each
After a tense contest. Selwyn I and Selwyn II drew 13 matches each in the fifth round of the Canterbury senior table tennis competition last evening. V. N. Brightwell (Selwyn I), whose form this season has been erratic, easily beat R. B. McCallum and Mrs P. M. Pardon, and also defeated his former team-mete. T. R. D. Flint, after a hard tussle.
A. Jerrnes (Selwyn II). giving a brilliant display of high-powered attacking play, also beat Flint, but was surprisingly beaten by McCalWallabies Red retained its lead in the competition by easily beating Wallabies Green, 9-3. N. B. Radford was the spearhead of the victory and easily gave his best performance of the season. All-round Effort University produced a good all-round effort to beat Star. 8-4. D. D. M. Stewart (University) gained wins over G. Makinson and Miss F. Inglis but was edged out by the previously out-of-form H. P. Holt. Eagles, with J. Armstrong in great form, accounted for Avonside 8-4. Cox and Radford beat Hart and Lelliott, 33-21, 16-21, 21-10: Stevenson and Radford lost to Cassidy and Lelliott, 20-22, 2114; Stevenoh and Cox lost to Cassidy and Hart, 18-21, 21-19, 36-28.
