ENGINE STAFF AMENITIES
New Building At Lyttelton Planned
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. June 13.
Improved amenities for the Railways Department’s locomotive staff at Lyttelton will be provided after the new station building, now under construction, is completed in a few months’ time
The Minister of Railways (Mr McAlpine) said today that a new building, 45 feet by 21 feet, would be erected to contain a lunch room, locker room, wash room, and toilet facilities. At present, these amenities are provided partly in the old station building and partly in a separate small structure which is inconveniently located and cannot be extended
The new building, to be constructed of split concrete blocks similar to those erf the Ration building, will also include an office for the senior driver It will be erected after the old station has been demolished.
