WELLINGTON, June 12.

A survey last season by the Department of Agriculture of Inglewood dairy farmers’ incomes showed that the more cows milked and the higher the butterfat pro-

duction, the less a farmer received, the dairy section of Federated Farmers was told today by the senior vicechairman. Mr J. J. Parsons, of Taranaki. He was supporting a remit that more district surveys of dairy farmers’ incomes be conducted in Northland. Mr Parsons said the Inglewood survey showed: Butterfat Cows Net

The “most dramatic” drop in income occurred where 80

cows were milked and labour had to be hired, said Mr Parsons.

On 38 per cent, of farms, wives helped out regularly.

The remit, and anoth-er requesting the Government Statistician to feature an adjustment for the interest on capital when calculating the average income of farmers were carried.
